Backstory
I come from a family of what I thought were normal folk. Turns out I'm a half-blood. A witch! It is obvious to me that I take after my magical mother, not just magical by nature, but being accepting of situations, just understanding that things are what they are. I was not shocked or surprised to find out I was a magical child. I always felt in my bones that I was destined for more than the ordinary. My father, however, I am not like. Not only a muggle, but he must have taken the news of my mother being a witch not too kindly. When she expressed to my father that she was a witch, as I must be too, for she witnessed me at 9 years old floating precariously around my bedroom in my sleep, my father upped and abandoned us. Too much for his delicate muggle sensibilities. My mother, ever the self-preserving Slytherin, accepted this decision but wasted no time in opening the wizarding world to my curious ears, despite her obvious feeling of betrayal.
She was a Slytherin. As am I. Though, she is a Pureblood, I, as I said, am only Half. But my mother assures me that I most certainly will not be any less of a witch.
She works for the Ministry of Magic, in the Department of Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. With the vigor and excitement that she tells me of her job, I knew that's where I wanted to be. Working with fantastical, magical creatures.
And as I received my Hogwarts letter, I knew my journey into the wizarding world had finally begun. I ended up in Slytherin. My mother was very proud. As am I. Despite my blood status, I may be not the norm for the Emerald colours, but my will to succeed and the cunning I possess in which to do it, I have never felt more at home.
