Backstory
Growing up with a Squib father, a Witch mother, and two siblings, my family played an important role in shaping who I am today. My father taught me to never be ashamed of who I am, and my mother taught me to always follow my dreams. My two older brothers were born squibs, and I am the first girl and witch to be born to my family. At first, we all thought that I would be a squib, just like my brothers, because I showed no magical abilities. It wasn't until I was 8 years old that my magical abilities started making themselves known. Like, if I wanted something out of my reach, it would come to me. I remember being picked on by neighborhood kids once, and one of their noses just started growing. I actually don't know what happened to them, but after that, they didn't pick on me anymore. One day that I do remember, is the day that I got my letter. It was my birthday and my parents and brothers were all around me, as I blew out my candles. The day was half over and my letter did not come as mom said. After the candles were blown out, my presents opened and half a cake gone, and still no letter, I grew very anxious. My mom and dad smiled at me, and my mom took my face into her hands. "You'll get your letter, my darling. The day isn't over yet.", she said.
Just then, a rather old looking owl, came whooshing in through the open window. He held a brownish envelope in his beak. Father walked over and grabbed it, and a big smile broke out on his face. "I have a big surprise for you, baby girl." He said, as he handed it to me. My brothers grew closer, anxious for me to open my letter. It was indeed from Hogwarts. I held it close to me and started to cry. My mom instantly hugged me and asked what was wrong.
"It's just... I never thought I would get a l.. l... letterrr.", I said through tears. My mom hugged me again and said,"Oh its ok, my love. Even if you weren't a witch, we would love you just the same."
