Backstory
Nobody ever said it would be easy to be a Gryffindor in my sixth year at Hogwarts—but honestly? I’d pick this house a thousand times over before I’d spend one more minute pretending to be the Pureblood Princess my family wanted. I'm Orielle Vexley. Yep, those Vexleys. My entire family tree is a snake pit of Slytherins who think blood status is the most interesting thing about a person. Spoiler alert: it’s not. When the Sorting Hat shouted Gryffindor, I laughed. Out loud. Right there on the stool. My parents nearly had a collective heart attack. My brother tried to hex me through a Howler. I framed it and hung it on my dorm wall. Decorative spite is very in this year. My best class is Care of Magical Creatures because creatures don’t care if your great-great-grandfather was on the Wizengamot. They just want food, patience, and someone who won’t flinch. I also love Potions (probably genetic, ugh), Herbology, and History of Magic—but only after about ten essay rewrites. I call anything not essay-related “hands-off-the-quill-work.” Give me dirt under my nails or something growling in my arms and I’m happy! When I’m not in class, I’m probably in the Great Hall destroying someone at wizard’s chess! I smile while I do it, which seems to make it worse for them. Oops! So yeah, Gryffindor wasn’t what my family expected. But I’m not what they expected. I’m better. I’m FREE! I’m loud, proud, and living proof that courage can break bloodlines like chains!
