Backstory
My name is Edith Ryskamp, and I am a first-year student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I come from a humble family in the English countryside. My father, Harold Ryskamp, is a wizard who works at the Ministry of Magic, and my mother, Amelia Ryskamp, is a talented witch who chose to stay at home to raise me and my younger brother, Oliver, who is just six years old.
The day I received my Hogwarts letter is one I will never forget. It was a sunny morning in July, and I was helping my mother in the garden when an owl swooped down, dropping a letter right into my hands. The envelope was thick, made of parchment, and bore the Hogwarts crest. My heart pounded with excitement as I opened it to find my acceptance letter. My parents were overjoyed, and my little brother looked at me with wide-eyed admiration.
The journey to Hogwarts was an adventure in itself. I remember standing on Platform 9¾, my heart pounding with anticipation. As the Hogwarts Express chugged through the countryside, I made friends with a few other first-year students. We shared our hopes and fears about the new school year, and before we knew it, the train was pulling into Hogsmeade Station.
The Sorting Hat ceremony was nerve-wracking. As the hat was placed on my head, I could hear it muttering about my qualities. "A sharp mind... a thirst for knowledge... yes, you will do well in... SLYTHERIN!" it finally announced. A wave of relief washed over me as I joined my new housemates at the Slytherin table.
Being sorted into Slytherin was a proud moment for me. I am eager to uphold the values of my house: resourcefulness, determination, and a certain disregard for the rules. I am excited about the journey that lies ahead and the magic I am yet to learn.
