Backstory

To be honest, I wasn't sure the letter would come at all. Mum and dad had magic but since they died when I was younger, I didn't grow up around the stuff. I made my way through the muggle world doing what I had to do, and if that included dressing like a boy, maybe I didn't mind the invisibility that offered me. Maybe I didn't mind getting into fights when it happened. Maybe I didn't mind stealing from the thugs marking up prices so high the poorer folk can't feed themselves. But anyway, the letter found a way to me even sleeping under an awning, and since we're being honest, I didn't really wanna go. The idea of being around a bunch of privileged little--well, I wasn't that interested. But it occurred to me that this school thing might include hot meals and a bed, and the survivalist in me won out in the end I guess. So here I am, and I know I might be young and all, but you know how they say it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks? No? Is that only a muggle saying? Well anyway, it hasn't been exactly easy to stop stealing and fighting and dressing whichever way I wish. I mean, skirts do nothing for you when you're needing to knock a kid down and wrestle their head between your thighs, just to teach them a lesson, you know? So maybe some people call me a freak, and maybe I'm not always the best student. But I don't mind that Defense Against the Dark Arts class, now that's useful stuff, and if I could just get down Transfiguration spells I know they'd come in handy... Now as to what I'd do when I get out of this place...don't bother asking me that.
